Barb DeMascio

February 10-11, 2007

8:30 – 4:30

Saturday will offer Distance skills and Sunday, finding lines and handling them properly.

Barb DeMascio has been involved in dog agility since 1987. She has trained and competed with 3 flat-coated retrievers, earning the USDAA Agility Dog Champion (ADCH) and Veteran Performance Dog (VPD) titles with Laika. She is currently competing with her 8 year old border collie, Revel, who earned her ADCH in only 12 trials (in 10 months). Revel won the 26" USDAA World Championship in 2002 and also placed 2nd at the AKC Nationals the same year. Revel was in the finals for USDAA in the Grand Prix and Steeplechase as well as the AKC Nationals in 2003 and the Steeplechase finals in 2004. . She has made the USDAA Top Ten lists since her very first year of competition, making all 4 categories in 2001, 2003 and 2004. Also in 2004 she finished 3rd in the 26” division for Tournament Top Ten. In 2005 she completed her Gold Lifetime Achievement Award, and finished 6th in the Tournament Top ten with only 6 months of competing. She is close to her MACH3 in AKC. Her younger border collie, Singe, is 5 and has her MAD in USDAA and 5 legs from her ADCh.  She has a young Parson Russell Terrier, Schism, who is three years old.  Schiz is currently competing in Excellent in AKC and mostly masters in USDAA. In addition to giving seminars and private lessons away from home, Barb teaches private and small group lessons at various locations in SE PA. Barb has taught at Susan Garrett's Say Yes summer camps, as well as Clean Run, Power Paws and Competitive Edge Agility camps. She believes in building a strong foundation of skills, and creating a true partnership with your dog, by using positive methods. She feels that agility is a team sport and the handler must be the other half of the equation, putting forth as much effort as you require of your dog.
